Discovery Week 4

We had a great time doing Discovery this week. Here is what we got up to in Ti Kouka.
We are making some people. There are lots of bits and bobs that we can use. It is fun!!!
We are playing with the house because the tiger was chasing us. We are safe living in the house.
I am playing Gutterball. It was hard. Mrs O'Neill was really good.
We are trying to blow a balloon up without using our mouth. Do you think we can do it?

Yay!!!! We did it
I am making a sandcastle that has a garden around it.
I made the Chipmunks.
We made an obstacle course. You have to get the ball in the bucket. It is kinda easy and hard. You have to be gentle.

Captain Cashalicious visited us today.

We munched money and practised our super hero pose.

We put the money in order from the smallest to biggest.

Here are the coins.

Here are the notes

We talked about needs and wants.

Speed to your needs
and wait for your wants.

Learning our Maths Games

This week we have been learning how to play the maths games in our Knowledge Boxes. Each day we are learning 3 new games. These are the games some of the students in T13 like.
We like to play Bigger because it is fun and has easy numbers.

We like to play 1 Jump Forward because it is fun and you get to put cool counters on. It is pink.

We like Guess My Number because it is fun. We love it.

Happy New Year!

Today is the Chinese New Year.
If you visit Ti Kouka Studio today you will see New Year wishes on our door.

A big thank you to Ryan's mum who gave us the decorations and shared with us how their family celebrates New Year.

We found out that this year will be the 'Year of the Goat'.
Lots of people in our studio were born in the Year of the Rat.
Mrs O'Callaghan and Mrs O'Neill were born in the Year of the Pig!
Can you work out what year you were born in.

Chloe's mum also came into the studio to share with us how they celebrate the New Year in Singapore.

We got to try some yummy treats. Ryan said the honeycomb treat tasted crunchy and sweet just like lollies.

In Ti Kouka we...

In Ti Kouka we have been brainstorming what we need to do to make our studio a happy and safe place to learn.

This is what we decided:

care for each other.

push chairs in and keep our studio tidy.

use quiet voices.

Tally Charts

We are learning how to use tally marks.
We did a tally of our favourite pets.  We learnt that we put the fifth tally mark around the bundle. Then we could count quickly when we were counting up the marks.
By Matthew

Next we asked our own question about what we wanted to find out about our T group.

We then used our tally charts to make a bar graph.

Will found out that orange was the most popular colour and pink was the least popular colour.

Do you have a question that you would like to find out about our T groups?

Making Pictographs

In Maths we are learning how to group and display different things. This week we grouped our T groups in different ways.

We asked each other what we liked doing and then made a pictograph.
We are learning to write comments about our graphs.
